Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the appointment of former IAS officer AK Sharma as the BJP’s vice president in the state ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections next year.
 Meanwhile, Archana Mishra and Amit Balmi have been appointed in charge of the area.
 The BJP has decided to strengthen the party’s organization in the state by holding elections in Uttar Pradesh next year.
 Earlier this month, BJP National Secretary General (Organization) BL Santosh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Radha Mohan Singh held a review meeting with state ministers and leaders.
 According to sources, based on the response of the review meetings, the ruling BJP has held discussions on the party organization in Uttar Pradesh.
 Gujarat cadre, believed to be a trusted lieutenant of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, joined the ruling BJP in January 1988 by former IAS officer AK Sharma.
