Husband shot and killed his wife for talking to someone else on the phone
An incident in which a man shot dead his wife on the grounds that she was talking to someone else on the phone and later surrendered to the police took place in Betoli village of Virajpete taluk of Kodagu district.
Shilpa Seethamma (40) died. The accused shot dead her husband Nayakanda Bopanna (45). The police said that the husband shot and killed his wife in a fight between them after she objected to him talking to someone else on the phone.
Shilpa Seethamma was a former member of Gram Panchayat. He served as Betoli Gram Panchayat member from 2012 to 2017. On Friday (july 19) night, he was talking to someone else on the phone. There was a fight between the two regarding the same issue. Even today (Saturday) morning, the husband objected, due to which there was a fight between the two, and finally the fight turned into a disaster and the husband himself shot him dead. Police sources said that he surrendered to the police after killing himself.
They fell in love with each other 17 years ago and got married, the couple has two children. He also owned a service station and a coffee plantation in Arji village of Bopanna Virajpet taluk. For the past few days, there was mutual disagreement between husband and wife. It is said that there was a big commotion on Friday night.
After killing his wife, Bopanna came to the police station along with Kovi and surrendered. Later, the Virajpet police visited the incident site and conducted an investigation. A case has been registered at Virajpet Rural Police Station
